David G. Hastings founded Hastings and Hastings in 1981 and continues to practice today out of the firm’s Corporate Office in Chandler.
His undergraduate studies were at the University of Arizona where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and Economics. Mr. Hastings also attended law school at the University of Arizona graduating With Distinction. Giving back to the James E. Rogers College of Law, Mr. Hastings awards and sponsors a scholarship yearly to a deserving law student.
Mr. Hastings is also the inaugural sponsor of a Bachelor of Laws undergraduate scholarship at the University of Arizona. This program and associated scholarship is the first of its kind in the country.
He was admitted to practice by the State Bar of Arizona in 1979 and licensed to practice in the United States Federal District Court of Arizona. In addition, Mr. Hastings is a past Sustaining Member of the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association, now known as the Arizona Association for Justice.
Mr. Hastings began practicing law at the oldest law firm in Arizona (Gust Rosenfeld) where he represented many of the largest insurance companies in the world. But in 1981, he switched sides, representing victims injured as a result of the negligence of others.
In 1993, the Arizona Business Gazette wrote an article about Mr. Hastings calling him “The Discounting King” for his revolutionary approach to legal fees for accident victims. He pioneered his discount fee with those victims in mind who may not otherwise contact a personal injury attorney.
Mr. Hastings is married with three daughters. He and his family are very involved with Special Olympics Arizona, Phoenix Children’s Hospital Down Syndrome Clinic, Down Syndrome Network Arizona, The Salvation Army, St. Vincent De Paul, and numerous other charitable causes. They often travel to Mexico together to build homes for the poor with 1Mission. In addition to his philanthropic efforts, Mr. Hastings enjoys golfing, snow skiing, hiking, and traveling with his family.
